On September 28th, Regina Hibiki Taiko participated in Culture Days in Regina, a national celebration of arts and culture that takes place each year during the last weekend of September. The group performed eight songs, held drumming workshops for anyone interested in learning to play taiko, and sold a variety of Japanese souvenirs.
The group played for nearly an hour, showcasing an ever expanding repertoire of songs. I recorded the performance in the following video.
The performance took place at the auditorium of St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church. It was a challenge to shoot given the layout and the lighting conditions. I wish that I could have achieved closer shots of the group performing. Perhaps this is something that I can achieve at the next gig.
