It's hard to believe that another year and another Ukrainian dance recital has gone by with the Zabutnyy Dance Company. My daughters started dancing with this group when they were very young - around four years old. It's been so interesting and wonderful to see them persevere and grow over the last seven years of dance. They've gone to practices consistently through many long, cold winters. It's always great to attend the Spring Recital.
This year the recital was once again held at the Regina Performing Arts Centre. For a local event space, the RPAC is a great venue. Many thanks to all of the crew and staff who came out to work on a Sunday evening to help put on this show to a packed house.
This year I set up in the back of the theatre with my cell phone an my monopod to record the show. I shot footage of most of the dance sets. I wish now though that I would have brought a proper video camera as I was unable to get any nice zoom shots with my phone. Regardless, I did manage to get a wide shot of the dances that included the entire stage.
It was a wonderful spring evening in Regina. All of the dancers were able to show off their hard work from the past year of practice. All that is left now of the 2022/23 season is to finish things off in early June at the Mosaic Festival of Cultures at the Kiev Pavilion. Then the kids will all have a nice summer to rest and get ready for another year of practice starting in September. All in the ongoing, never-ending seasons of life.
