I am maintaining my commitment to learning to play the bass guitar. Using Scott's Bass Lessons (SBL), I have continued to progress. This time I have moved on to Players Path Level Four. There are another three songs that I am going to tackle in this level, the first of which is a jazz / blues hybrid with a walking bass line. Some more old-fashioned (I prefer the word "classic") music.
This is the first time that I have learned how to play a walking bass line. This is a very common type of bass line in blues and jazz and it was great to finally learn how to play a simple one. I've heard so much about how common and important walking bass lines are. I'm glad to learn that I'm able to actually play such a line.
I'm not sure that I've actually perfected this type of line yet (I feel like I'm not keeping a totally steady rhythm with those quarter notes). But, I am satisfied to the point where I'm going to move on to song two of Level Four. The next one will involve me learning how to do some basic slapping. Oh boy...!
