I'm still working away on Scott's Bass Lessons - Players Path, Level 1. This time I decided to pull out the Musoo ukulele bass that I bought this past winter. It's nice compact size makes it incredibly portable and easy to get up and down the fretboard. Yet, I'm not really sure that the u-bass is for me. The strings have a "rubbery" consistency that makes them somewhat sticky. I have to adjust the way that I attack the strings with my right hand and my left hand fingers tend to stick when I fret notes. This causes some unwanted noise from time to time.
Julia Hoffer from Thomann Music in Germany released a video a while back indicating that putting some water or rosin on one's fingers tends to help eliminate some of the noise associated with the u-bass strings. I haven't tried this yet as I find that I don't play this little bass all that often.
I am impressed though with how fat and loud the u-bass sounds. It is quite amazing how such great low-end can come out of such a small instrument. I guess time will tell whether or not I keep this particular bass around.
