Typhoon Weather and Family

Today we left friends and family behind in Toyama in order to visit Hana's sister and kids in Yokohama. By train we made the three hour journey to Yokohama - one of Japan's nicer major cities.

I was feeling quite under the weather all day today. What appeared to be the onset of a cold - scratchy eyes and major headache. Our arrival in Tokyo for our transfer to Yokohama was a bit unpleasant given my headache. Tokyo is one crowded city - a crush of humanity. When you're feeling down and ill, not exactly the kind of place that you want to find yourself.

We had some lunch and then transferred to our Yokohama train. Upon arrival at the station closest to our family's home, we were faced with an approximately 20 minute up-hill walk. Normally this walk is actually quite a pleasant one but the remnants of a typhoon that passed through southern Asia just happened to be making its way through. We were hit with tons of rain and wind. Our umbrellas were always in danger of inverting and the driving rain soaked us and our things. By the time we arrived at the house we were a wet mess.

Luckily the warmth of our family's welcome had us feeling a lot better. The kids are just great - three of the best behaved and fun children I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I really would like to know their parents' secret. I have always had a good time playing with the kids and this trip was no exception. As I've already mentioned all three of them are great kids. I'm really proud to be the foreign uncle from Canada to these wonderful children.

We enjoyed a great meal and a great rest. Really looking forward to coming back here again sometime soon...
