Jet Lag in Hokkaido

After 24 hours of airports and airplanes we finally arrived in Sapporo late yesterday evening.  I cannot describe to you how relieved we were to get here and lay down after being up for 24 hours straight.  We left Regina at 9:00am on Aug. 17 and we arrived here at around 9:00am (Regina time) on Aug. 18.  International travel is sexy for about the first 10 hours; after that -- not really...

Overall, our flights were excellent.  Air Canada did a decent job and the planes that we were on were in good working order this time around!  Vancouver Airport was efficient as ever and so was Narita in Tokyo.  Compared to my recent experience at Heathrow Airport in London, both Vancouver Airport and Narita were great experiences!

We're up early this morning (it's around 5:30am in Sapporo right now) and we are getting ready to head out and do some exploring.  I have never been to Sapporo before and Hana has not been here since she was a child.  It will be interesting to see what we will find.  When we arrived last night, Sapporo looked not much different from any other large Japanese city -- lots of concrete and sprawl.  Hokkaido is one of the prefectures in Japan with a lot more space though, so it will be interesting to see if the state of things here is different than in places like Tokyo, Osaka, etc...  Hana has been telling me for a long time that Hokkaido is a lot like Saskatchewan so we're going to now put that theory to the test!

Assuming the jet lag doesn't hit us too hard throughout the day, this should be a good one -- lots to explore and learn...
